Motto "Seamless Communication": How professional speech-to-text interpreting and verified quality dismantle language barriers
Under the inspiring motto "Grenzenlos kommunizieren" (Seamless Communication), we are thrilled to be live on-site today alongside dedicated colleagues and team members from the Austrian Association of Speech-to-Text Interpreters (ÖSDV) at the annual Day of Languages hosted by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce (WKO)!
Linguistic diversity is one of the greatest assets of our society. Whether in international business, academic research, or daily community life, languages build bridges. Yet, as valuable as multilingualism is: true accessibility only happens when absolutely everyone can participate, listen, and read along.
And that is precisely what we are demonstrating live at the event through professional Speech-to-Text Interpreting (CART) – the real-time conversion of spoken dialogue into readable text for deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees, as well as the wider public.
At the Day of Languages, we are represented alongside fellow ÖSDV team members at an information booth: Feel free to stop by, pick up informational materials on speech-to-text interpreting and accessible communication, and connect with us in person!
👉 "Is there always 'accessibility' inside where 'accessible' is written on the label? – Quality assurance options in live language services for accessibility"
Presented by Mag. Daniela Eichmeyer-Hell, MA (Delfinterpret GbR & ÖSDV board member) as part of the official program of the WKO Language Service Providers trade group.
The presentation hit the nail on the head: accessibility must never be reduced to a mere marketing buzzword or a superficial checklist entry. Real inclusion requires recognized standards, continuous training, and genuine professional execution. Unassisted automated speech recognition in complex live events frequently results in misleading contextual mistakes. Reliable quality assurance is what ensures information and communication are truly barrier-free for everyone.
The WKO Day of Languages has a proud track record of championing communication: We previously presented on acoustic accessibility during the Day of Languages 2024 ("Caption It All") and earlier editions.
